About Annmarie
Annmarie is an award winning pet photographer based in South Jersey. When not covered in fur and dog drool, she enjoys travel adventures with her husband, pretending that she knows how to cook, collecting exotic whiskies, and she has no self control when shopping at Target.
Annmarie also volunteers her time and photography skills to many local rescues and animal shelters, most often at The Burlington County Animal Shelter. Every animal deserves a second chance at a wonderful home, and a good clear photo that shows an animal's personality can really help people connect with and want to meet an animal. It takes a village to help the overpopulation of pets in rescues and shelters, and Annmarie is proud to be part of the rescue community.
What Pets Do You Photograph?
I love all animals and have photographed dogs, cats, chickens, horses, bunnies & birds. My specialty is dogs and cats but I'm open to photographing all pets, big and small!
What's Your Style?
Photo trends come and go, but clean simple photos are timeless. For that reason, I don't use a ton of props unless I think it really brings out an animals personality or elevates the photo in some way. In the studio, I love simple black or neutral backdrops, with occasional colored backgrounds for a more contemporary look. When shooting outdoors the name of the game is fun. I love lots of action shots and casual poses.
Why I love Photographing Animals.
To me, photographing an animal is no different than photographing a person. They have likes and dislikes. They can have fears and insecurities just like humans. As with humans, it's important to take time to build a rapport when photographing an animal. Sometimes we are instant friends and sometimes it takes some time for them to feel safe. In the end, when an animal gives you their trust, it's really the greatest compliment you can get. I love the challenge of connecting with an animal and the greatest reward is seeing that connection captured in a photo.
